Message from the Head of Sixth Form

Welcome to the Sixth Form at Habs.

We are extremely proud of our Sixth Form girls: they work hard and play hard, creating a very special atmosphere at the top of the school.

The Sixth Form at Habs is stimulating and fast-paced, with a wide range of opportunities. We aim to provide an environment where girls can grow socially as well as academically, where they can take increasing responsibility for their learning and for their lives, and where they can combine dedication to their studies with a great sense of fun.

Girls will begin thinking about their Sixth Form subjects during the Upper Five (Year 11), choosing four AS courses to study during the Lower Sixth. We aim to allow girls a completely free choice of subjects and do our very best to accommodate all combinations.

At the start of the Lower Sixth all girls have an induction day to meet their new tutors and tutor groups, and to welcome new girls into the year group. Girls who come new are given special support in the early weeks, each one having a "Buddy" from among the year group and individual meetings with pastoral staff to help with settling in.

This is a very exciting time in girls' lives and their experiences in the Sixth Form will shape their future studies and careers.  We provide our students with a detailed programme of support for UCAS applications and careers advice.  In addition, every girl has individual meetings with specialist staff to help them through the process.  Our aim is for our Sixth Formers to leave Habs fully prepared to lead successful and fulfilled lives in the wider world.
