Following the announcement earlier this year that Biddie O’Connor will retire at the end of the Summer Term 2019, the Governing Body has now concluded the recruitment process to appoint her successor.

We are delighted to announce that Rose Hardy has accepted the offer to become the next Headmistress of Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls.

Rose read History at Somerville College, Oxford, then studied for a PGCE at London University and more recently completed an MEd in Educational Leadership. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Rose will join Habs with a wide range of teaching and leadership experience. She is currently Headmistress of St Margaret’s, Bushey, having previously worked in both the maintained sector and leading independent girls’ and boys’ schools, including more recently as Head of the co-educational Sixth Form at St Albans School before moving on to the post of Second Master at the school. Rose is a Governor of an international school and an independent boarding school.

In his letter to parents and staff, Simon Cartmell, Chairman of the Governing Body stated ‘I have no doubt that Rose has the relevant experience and vision to continue to move the school forward on the next phase of its development when she takes up her post in September 2019’.

Everyone at the school looks forward to welcoming Rose when she takes up her new post in September 2019.
