In what was the first Alumnae event of the new school year we were delighted to welcome back the Class of 2017 to receive their A Level certificates and prizes at their one year reunion.

After an opening address by the Headmistress it was wonderful to hear from Matita Afoakwa, the Head Girl from the Class of 2012. Since leaving Habs Matita has graduated from UCL in Geography and French and has since been working for Google at their European Headquaters in Dublin. She will soon move to London, continuing to work for Google but managing those who create content for YouTube. Matita spoke about her time at Habs and her journey since leaving the Elstree ‘Bubble’ and how she has ended up where she is, not by having a concrete plan, but by taking as many of the opportunities that came her way as she possibly could. Olivia Cox, Head Girl from the Class of 2017, gave a vote of thanks to Matita for her encouraging words of wisdom.

An opportunity to catch up with each other and members of staff followed at a drinks reception in the Philosophers’ Garden. It was lovely to hear what everyone has been up to in their first year away from Habs and everyone at the school wishes the Class of 2017 all the very best for the future. We look forward to welcoming them back to their five year Reunion in just four years’ time!
