VIAJE 2019 A EL PUERTO DE SANTA MARÍA
Muy temprano en la mañana del domingo 7 de abril de 2019, 35 alumnas de Middle 5 y cuatro profesores partieren en un viaje al sur de España que todos recordaremos con mucho cariño. Después de un corto vuelo a Málaga y un viaje en autocar más largo a Cádiz, finalmente llegamos a El Puerto por la tarde. Nos recibieron calurosamente las familias que nos acogieron y pasamos la primera noche conociéndolos, probando las delicias locales como el jamón serrano y la tortilla española y, por supuesto, practicando nuestro español.
Durante los siguientes cuatro días tuvimos clases de español cada mañana, seguidas de un almuerzo y luego actividades culturales por la tarde. Debido a la lluvia el lunes por la tarde, tuvimos que quedarnos en la escuela y ver una película, aunque logramos salir a dar un paseo por El Puerto y probar uno o más helados. El martes tomamos un ferry a Cádiz, la hermosa ciudad de la costa atlántica, y el miércoles fuimos a Jerez de la Frontera, donde visitamos el increíble Alcázar y tuvimos mucho tiempo para dar un paseo por el centro. En nuestro último día en la escuela y después de nuestras clases por la mañana, aprendimos a bailar sevillanas, cocinamos una increíble paella y casi nos lloramos con una presentación fotográfica de nuestra estancia en España. Tanto nuestras familias como la escuela fueron excelentes, y tenemos muy buenos recuerdos del viaje que recordaremos durante muchos años.
2019 TRIP TO EL PUERTO DE SANTA MARÍA
Very early on the morning of Sunday 7 April 2019, 35 Middle 5 pupils and four members of staff embarked on a journey to the south of Spain which all will remember very fondly. After a short flight to Málaga and a longer coach journey to Cádiz, we finally arrived at El Puerto in the afternoon. We were warmly greeted by the families who were hosting us and spent the first evening getting to know them, sampling some of the local delicacies like Serrano ham and Spanish omelette and, of course, practising our Spanish.
For the next four days we had Spanish lessons in the morning followed by a packed lunch and then afternoon cultural activities. Due to the rain on Monday afternoon, we had to stay at the school and watch a film, although we did manage to go out for a walk and try the local ice cream. On Tuesday we took a ferry to Cádiz, the beautiful city on the Atlantic coast and on Wednesday we went to Jerez de la Frontera, where we visited the amazing Alcázar and had plenty of time to walk around. On our last day at the school and after our lessons in the morning, we learned how to dance Sevillanas, cooked an amazing paella and were almost reduced to tears with a picture presentation of our stay in Spain. Both our families and the school were supportive, and we have very fond memories of the trip which we will treasure for many years to come.
