This week a few of our Lower 6 were lucky enough to participate in the Royal Holloway University’s Explore Maths Day in Egham. Gemma (Lower 6) writes about their experiences.

The day consisted of a series of short lectures on mathematical topics ranging from the enigma machine to the maths of music. We thoroughly enjoyed the day as there was a wide variety of talks on offer and so many interesting topics were explored. In the middle of the day we were able to choose which talks we attended which was useful as we were able to choose talks that we had a particular interest in, and as these talks were in smaller groups we were able to participate more and get involved. The day was very worthwhile and gave us a strong sense of what studying maths at a higher level would be like, and we are looking forward to doing this at university next year.
