On Sunday 15 December, the Great Gatsby opened his doors to the annual Senior Citizens’ Tea Party, welcoming an afternoon of live performances, bingo, a raffle and a quiz. As over 160 ladies and gentlemen took their places at the glamorously decorated tables accompanied by lively volunteers, performances from pianists, singers and jazz bands began.

After several cups of tea and delicious food served by our brilliant catering company, Mrs Hardy read out raffle numbers as the committee rushed around the hall to give out prizes to every senior citizen. Towards the end of the afternoon, almost every guest and volunteer was up on their feet dancing to the classics- the senior citizens’ were teaching the younger generation all of their moves!

As the tea party drew to a close, the guests exited the hall collecting their gift bags and thanking everyone profoundly for the wonderful afternoon they’d had. It’s safe to say that the happiness the guests felt was worth the weeks of hard work and organisation and it was truly an event we will never forget.
