On Tuesday 21 January, two teams from Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls competed in the prestigious ESU Public Speaking Competition Hertfordshire Regional Round held at Aldenham School. Both of the Habs Girls teams (comprising a Questioner, Chairperson and Speaker) had to compete against several other schools for the position of best overall team. The judges remarked on the extremely high standard of all the participants but unanimously declared the Habs Girls Team 1 to be the overall winners. In addition to this, individual prizes were awarded on the night to Best Chairperson, which was won by Madison and Outstanding Personality which was awarded to Jamila who received high praise from the Mayor of Hertsmere himself.
All the students are to be congratulated for their efforts and we look forward to seeing how they perform in the East Region Final which takes place on Saturday 14 March at Magdalene College, Cambridge.
