Thursday 7 October was an exciting day for our netball players as the school hosted the annual Haberdashers Netball Festival. The event brought together eight Haberdashers schools and offered students from across the county an opportunity to meet, socialise and finally have a chance to play competitive sport against one another.

We were especially pleased to welcome Borough Academy, the newest school in the group, who competed in the Haberdashers Festival for the first time – indeed, this was their first competitive sporting fixture! The day began in Prevett Hall where students were welcomed with breakfast and joined together to take part in a quiz about Women in Sport. Mrs Hardy gave an opening speech, and it was then time to warm up on the courts.

The tournament saw competition from 24 teams spanning U13, U15 and U19 year groups and we were treated to a fantastic and inspiring morning of sport. Teams competed well, showing spirit and sportsmanship. After almost 20 months of no school sporting fixtures, everyone displayed outstanding skills and tactical play and it was evident that they had been working hard to develop these in their schools.

After a sumptuous lunch, Mr Simon Cartmell, Chairman of the Aske Board, attended to present the winning trophies to the winning teams:

  • U13 – Habs Girls
  • U15 – Habs Girls
  • U19 – Habs Monmouth

Congratulations to everyone for an amazing day of sport and inter-Haberdashers schools friendship. We can’t wait for next year!
