The Middle School

The curriculum during the first three years of the Senior School is designed to give a broad and balanced education and to allow girls to gain the confidence and skills to underpin their future intellectual development.

Each student follows a set curriculum for Years 7-9 and for most subjects they are taught in their form groups. In Years 8 and 9, however, Mathematics and Modern Foreign Languages are set to allow for some difference of pace. There is a weekly tutorial lesson for every form, where girls get a chance to spend time together and follow a structured programme to develop their social skills and help them make mature judgements in ways which seem meaningful and valuable to them. In addition each year group follows an age-specific programme of Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) covering such topics as friendship, self-esteem, mindfulness, budgeting, drugs, alcohol and relationships.
