Vivekka Nagendran (Class of 2013) and Miriam Reason (Class of 2012) are both part of the band The 52s, which was formed while the members were undergraduates at Oxford University. The band mates are now all professionals working in London working in healthcare and teaching.

Vivekka, a Junior Doctor working with the NHS, has been in touch to ask us to share details of their latest track Heroine that aims to raise funds for the victims of domestic abuse. The song, which was recorded while the band members were in isolation, was written to help charities that support domestic abuse victims. The band write on their Facebook page:

As a band of doctors, teachers and a social worker we too often deal with the fallout from domestic abuse. It’s getting worse during lockdown and we wanted to do something to help. 100% of the money raised through downloads and streams of our new track Heroine will go towards supporting the essential ongoing work of Women’s Aid, Refuge UK and Respect UK.

The band has already raised in excess of £1000 in the few days since the launch of the track. Well done to Vivekka, Miriam and the other members of The 52s for their initiative and the support of these worthy causes.
