Mrs Sarah Deamer and Mr Joshua Baum share news of a new book to remember our period of Lockdown during the COVID pandemic.

In April 2021 we returned to school after a year of disrupted education due to the COVID pandemic. On our return to being a community once more it was lovely to meet our friends and colleagues and exchange views and experiences. We thought these should be preserved in some way and so the Habs in Lockdown project was created.

Staff and students were asked to contribute a memory of lockdown to be stored in our School Memory Jar. These memories were so varied and interesting showing such a variety of experiences, new memories created, new skills learned, new ways of contacting friends and new educational goals achieved. We decided to collate them into a commemorative book.

The Memory Jar and Book are in school for everyone to read and enjoy.  Memories are still being added to the jar as it is so easy to forget what we all went through during this disruptive year. During the next few weeks copies of the book will be awarded to students we feel achieved something laudable during lockdown and staff and pupils will be asked to nominate members of our community.

We wanted to share a digital copy of our book with our wider community to show how we survived Lockdown and emerged stronger. Thank you to all who took part and contributed in some way to the project.
