The Haberdashers’ Elstree Schools are delighted to announce their outstanding GCSE results. Nevertheless, it is the schools’ view that it is important to remember that these grades are just one part of the educational journey at Habs and would not have been possible without the other academic and extensive co-curricular opportunities on the campus, creating relevant life skills and character development opportunities for all their students.

At Habs Girls, 54% of the grades awarded were 9 and 91% 7-9 and over at Habs Boys 61% of the grades awarded were 9 and 95% 7-9.

From September, the GCSE cohort will be the first students at Habs Girls and Habs Boys who will be taught their A Levels in co-educational classes, with students studying at least  one A Level in mixed gender classes across at the other school.

We are also delighted that the Girls’ School have introduced Friday Afternoon Activities and Wednesday afternoon games as a compulsory lesson for all Sixth Formers. This echoes our strategy and reminds us that these grades are just one part of the educational journey at Habs, which would not have been possible without the other academic and extensive co-curricular opportunities on the campus, creating relevant life skills and character development opportunities for all their students.

Rose Hardy, Headmistress, Habs Girls and Gus Lock, Headmaster, Habs Boys commented, “Congratulations to our Year 11 students on their outstanding GCSE results. After navigating two national lockdowns, these results are testament to the resilience and hard work of all our students. We are also indebted to all our staff for their unwavering support to our students through this unprecedented time in the history of education. At Habs, great exam results are just the very beginning; our education prepares young people for fulfilment in a world that demands huge flexibility, creativity, resilience and critical thought and we are looking forward to welcoming back this cohort into our Sixth Forms.”

With around 10% of students receiving a free school place, a Habs education can really help transform the lives of child in the local community. The schools currently award over £3 million in bursary support each year and is actively encouraging bright, high-achieving local students from low-income families to consider applying to the school. If you know a curious, ambitious and high-achieving child that might benefit from a free education at Habs please do contact admissions@habsboys.org.uk and admissions@habsgirls.org.uk  for further information.
