Habs was extremely fortunate to welcome Councillor Ameet Jogia MBE to Politics Society this February. He is currently a political advisor to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and in fact had to ask his permission on the day to come to Habs to give the talk! This was a great opportunity for students to ask questions on the future of UK politics and Mr Jogia’s role as a special advisor, as well as his relationship with the PM during this challenging time for the country. He answered all the questions honestly and respectfully, as well as speaking to us about his background from homeless as a child to MP hopeful and what motivates him, and spoke about how important it is to be politically engaged, on either side of the political divide. He has been a member since he turned 16 due to the party’s aspirational outlook, and consequently he was optimistic about the Conservative party’s hopes at the next election. We thank Mr Jogia for his talk and his time during his busy schedule, and hope to see him again at Habs in the near future.
