On Monday 9 October, St Catherine Singers sang Evensong at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge. The choir comprises 26 of our senior singers, who have all won their place in the choir through an audition. In the afternoon the choir visited the Chapel of St John’s College, which is the home of the college’s world-famous choir, to rehearse and enjoy singing in the special acoustics of the building. We were honoured to be joined for the day by Alex Robson, Senior Organ Scholar at St John’s.

The music at the service included “Jesus Christ The Apple Tree” by Elizabeth Poston and Cecilia McDowall’s “St Albans Service”. The anthem was Stanford’s “O For A Closer Walk With God”. The service was attended by parents of the students, friends of the school and Old Haberdashers, who met together in Cambridge’s famous The Eagle pub afterwards.

Congratulations to all involved in what was a musical and spiritual occasion of the highest value.
