On Monday 27 January, six students from the Middle and the Upper School recited their poems for the Poetry by Heart competition. They had to recite poems from before 1914 and afterwards. The judges were impressed with the difficulty of their poems, the understanding they showed when reciting and how well they had learnt them. The two school round winners were Jamila in Upper 5 and Diya in Lower 5.

Recordings of their poetry readings will now be sent off to the judges at the Poetry by Heart HQ and we will be keeping our fingers crossed that they go forward to the national rounds of the competition, where they will compete against students from other schools.
