During July Middle 5 students enjoyed an enrichment day with a CSI theme.  The day kicked off with a talk from forensic science expert Simon Pole who gave them top tips for crime detection.  Students then went on to enjoy a series of workshops; stage make up, graffiti painting, stage combat and a murder mystery CSI challenge – complete with DNA and blood type testing.  Student learnt how to make a ‘fake slap’ look real, why blood and bruises change colour over time (and how to apply stage make up to depict this), how to produce artistic and impactful graffiti and challenged their analytical skills as murder detectives.  The whole day was organised jointly by Miss Percy and a group of Gold Arts Award students. It presented the Middle 5 with a wonderful opportunity to learn practically, creatively and collaboratively. The feedback we have received suggests the day was a huge hit and one that we hope to repeat in the future.
