This photograph comes from an album marked ‘The Haberdashers’ Aske’s School Acton W.3. Little views taken between 1963 – 1967.’ and shows the orchestra rehearsing in the Art Studio.

The school orchestra was first formed by Miss Hunt who left the school in 1925. The Acton Gazette reported the school carols in December 1917 and printed “ Further items were the playing of Gounod’s “Nazareth” by the members of the school orchestra, who gave a good account of themselves under the conductorship of Miss Hunt.”

Each of the five performers is wearing the distinct uniform that showed to which part of the school they belonged. The Middle School pupils had a collarless blouse whilst the Upper School students had a Peter-Pan collar and the sixth former at the end wears a blouse with a revered collar and grey cardigan.
