On 16 October 1969, the Brett Library was officially opened by Mrs WK Warren, a governor of the School. It was named after a former governor, Mr W Brett, whose bequest funded the new extension to the building which also incorporated four sixth form tutorial rooms and added space to the sixth form common room.
One of the library windows was of stained glass showing the arms of Robert Aske which was presented to the school by Miss EG Harold and funded by money presented to her by the parents when she had retired from the position of headmistress after 24 years the previous year.
The window is now installed here at Elstree in the staircase of the science block.
