At Habs Girls, we believe that our Forest School is a very special place, one where each and every pupil can develop at their own speed, in their own direction and along their own path. For many children, playing and spending time in nature is no longer a regular activity.

One of the many benefits of Forest School is the positive connection that each child has with nature and there is so much research into the positive effect that outdoors, and connection with nature has on our wellbeing.

With the launch of our Wildwood Den, we want to allow children to experience tree climbing whilst increasing awareness of ledges and fall risks. These are safe environments designed specifically for this purpose and the children will learn how to climb safely. There are hundreds of climbing, jumping, balancing and crawling experiences to be had. Without any prescribed play, the children will play more imaginatively whilst emersed in nature.

Rubia Noordin, Chair of the St Catherine Parents’ Guild, said: “The Guild committee is delighted to have funded the Wildwood Den as the new addition to Forest School. In a time of so much technology it is wonderful to see such an innovative, natural play area where students instinctively use their imaginations to create ever evolving adventures. It is certainly the fabric that memories are made of.”
